UNESCO City of Music

In recognition of its musical diversity and cooperation, Hannover was appointed a UNESCO City of Music in 2014.

The title is an acknowledgement of the city’s cultural policy and structures that offer excellent conditions both for the music industry and for artistic production.

Inclusion in the UNESCO Creative Cities network showcases the creative potential of its member cities internationally and connects them with each other.

Becoming part of this network also incorporates a commitment to maintain and strengthen existing structures through partnerships spanning culture and the economy – allowing visitors and residents to share the experience of live music performances in the city.
